Christmas Gift Service A huge thank you to everyone who so generously supported our Advent Gift Appeal. To all those who brought gifts and to all those who helped gather them in, many many thanks. You have certainly brought “Joy to the world!" Not only joy but light. We read in John’s Gospel - “The Light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.” We hear again in the old children’s hymn “Jesus Bids us shine”, and in a more modern hymn “They will know we are Christians by our love.” Thank you for enabling this mission. Toiletries including shower gel, soap, shampoo and deodorant. These can be left at the church any Sunday. Your continued support is greatly appreciated. Used Stamps Appeal During December and January, we will be collecting used postage stamps, such as those you will get with your Christmas cards, and donating them to this year’s Church of Scotland World Mission Used Stamp Appeal. The proceeds from the Appeal will go to ‘Firmly Planted’, a tree-planting initiative in Malawi spearheaded by our partners in the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian. The money raised by this project will help create employment opportunities, improve nutrition, improve agricultural productivity, and help mitigate the impact of the climate crisis. There will be a box for your used stamps in the Village Church and at the St Mungo’s Hub during December and January, so just pop them in when you’re at church and we’ll pass them on. Thank-you! |
