Connect 07 is the name given to a series of events being run by the Cumbernauld churches during the first week of September 2007.

What started off as an initiative by the five Church of Scotland congregations has grown beyond all expectations, so much so that at the last count fifteen different churches in the town had expressed an interest in participating.

The current plan is to launch the event on Saturday 1st September, leave Sunday 2nd free for congregations to have their own worship services (many, like us, celebrate Communion that day) and then have a series of community activities throughout the following week and finishing with a Family Fun Day on Saturday 8th September.

Each congregation is being asked to host or arrange two (or more) of these community events. Across all the churches we hope to have several activities each day, at different times and appealing to different age-groups and interests.

Cumbernauld Old is planning to hold a Toddlers' Praise on Friday 7th September and are currently discussing several other ideas. We'll let you know what we come up with – but, of course, are open to suggestions!

Connect 07 is also arranging for the Scottish Bible Society's Bibleworld exhibition to come to Cumbernauld for two weeks – this is described as “a 45ft mobile classroom aimed at presenting the Good News in a modern 21st century way” – see link
