Christian women of Paraguay invite men, women and young people from around the world to share with them in the World Day of Prayer Service being held on Friday 2nd March, 2007.

The chosen theme this year is "United Under God's Tent".

A tent is a place of shelter, a covering and protection likened to God's great cloak which covers all.

Paraguay is a sub-tropical country with a unique variety of plants and animals and with abundant flowers and shrubs of vibrant colours, a country rich in traditions of dance and music, arts and crafts.

The women make Nanduti lace, a fabric which is like a spider-web of different designs, in many parts, which are joined together to form one whole.

It is the desire of the Christian community that although of different race, culture and location we can be "United under God's Tent" as we celebrate and share together in the World Day of Prayer. The first Friday in March gives people from Christian communities in over 180 countries the opportunity to worship and pray on a common theme.

In Scotland, services are held in locations as diverse as prisons, churches, schools, universities, hospitals, eventide homes, hostels for the homeless and shopping centres. Offerings from the services are given to the Scottish Bible Society and for Christian literature work and other projects of an ecumenical nature.

The World Day of Prayer, on Friday 2nd March, 2007 gives us the opportunity to pray for and with the people of Paraguay and share in a time of praise and worship with fellow Christians in our local community.

Our service in Cumbernauld will take place on Friday 2nd March at 7.30pm in the Church of the Holy Name, Fleming Road, Seafar.
