Communication:
How do you communicate with people? Talking is probably the one you use most often; sign language and touch in the form of Braille are other forms.
Why do you need to learn to talk? Many reasons spring to mind, you may think of others.
We need communication, in all its forms, to build and maintain relationships. We communicate with friends, acquaintances and family, privately or in groups, sharing our experiences, seeking help, growing together.
In our Christian households God is part or our family and we are all part of His family. It is essential that we maintain a relationship with Him through communication in the form of personal and private prayer. We all need to talk privately to God through our daily devotions.
To maintain a complete relationship with the rest of God's family we need to set aside time to share our experiences, spiritual and secular, seek help and grow together.
We read many times of Jesus taking time out to talk personally with God and read of the fellowship of believers devoting themselves to prayer (Acts 1:14) and praying together about important events (Acts 21:5).
All forms of communication in a fellowship are equally important – without any one of them our relationship with each other and Jesus cannot grow. The Prayer Group of Cumbernauld Old meets on a Friday, to share our concerns with each other and with God, seeking His will and giving thanks.
At times, after a hectic week, we can feel compelled to bunk off. But we are reminded though, that after our time of fellowship and prayer, our Lord is with us, strengthening and uplifting. Our time has been well spent, our relationship with the Lord has grown.
